One player who has taken the time to respond to several of my emails over the past few years is receiving phenom Terrell Owens. T.O. will always be considered one of the great wide receivers of our generation, despite having his accolades, in some’s eyes, overshadowed by controversy. You certainly cannot argue with Owens’ accomplishments, though. T.O. had eleven consecutive seasons with six or more touchdown receptions, and is #5 on the all-time touchdowns list. That includes more touchdowns than Jim Brown. Owens is also the only player in NFL history who can say he has scored a touchdown against all 32 NFL teams.
I was a little late on wishing Terrell a Happy Birthday since it coincided with the weekend of my grandmother’s funeral, who was the last of my surviving grandparents. However, Owens offered his condolences, wished strength and comfort as I grieved, and congratulated me on being cancer-free. Thank you, T.O.
