Shortly after my 34th birthday, I heard from 2019 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee in the Contributor category, Gil Brandt. A former executive with the Dallas Cowboys, Brandt was not only the Cowboys’ scouting guru, but during 29 years with Dallas, this legendary scout pioneered so many great innovations that you see and hear of the NFL using today. Brandt pioneered innovative techniques such as going outside of pro football and the United States to find prospects, using computers and evaluations, and helping to create the NFL Scouting Combine.
Mr. Brandt took the time to thank me for my congratulations for his Hall induction in my letter, and he wrote me quite a thorough letter, as you can see, giving me some advice on vanquishing cancer, and offering his thoughts and prayers. It was less than fifteen days later that I was deemed cancer-free! Thank you so much for your prayers, Mr. Brandt!!!
